Richmond Weddings
Richmond is local to me and I love photographing weddings here. I also love spending my free time here. I’ve done many walks around the region, ate in many of the restaurants and drank in numerous bars and beer gardens. I’ve created this page just to give a few tips on where to have photos, where you can get married and where you can park. For advice and more information on getting married in the borough of Richmond then the Richmond government website is a great place to start.
Richmond Wedding Venues
Pembroke Lodge Weddings
There are a number of breathtaking venues all across Richmond. Pembroke Lodge is an extremely popular venue located inside Richmond Park. With the option to get married upstairs in the Russell suite or in the Belvedere suite with direct access to the terrace you can’t go wrong. there are beautiful landscaped gardens for some amazing photo opportunities whatever the weather.
The Bingham Weddings
The Bingham is a fab boutique hotel and restaurant a stones throw form the river thames. You can actually get by the river through a door at the end of the garden. Weddings just ooze class here. the room are amazing and the garden is a great feature and feels very secluded. There’s no parking at the hotel. Look below for some handy tips for parking when attending a wedding here.
Petersham Hotel Weddings
The Petersham hotel is a classy, sophisticated venue. You feel like you’re in the countryside. Especially if you are lucky enough to be staying in the honeymoon suite. As you can see the view from the balcony is unbelievable. You will definitely want your morning coffee looking at that view. If not coffee why not treat yourself to afternoon tea downstairs in the hotel.
The Richmond Hill Hotel is another great venue in Richmond. Excellent for a quick trip into the park. The hotel is a great spot to stay and get ready if you are getting married elsewhere in the area as is the Richmond Harbour Hotel next door. I can recommend The Gate which is the bar in the hotel itself. The decor is just so cool and is a great spot for a drink. The beer garden here is an absolute gem.
Further away but still in the borough of Richmond I can recommend Strawberry Hill House. This place just reminds me of a castle from a disney movie. The rooms are steeped in history and can hold a small intimate wedding. For larger weddings a marquee can be used on the lawn.
Photoshoot locations in Richmond
You’re lucky if you are getting married in many of the brilliant venues in Richmond as many have private grounds to shoot in. There are also many other open spaces that you can use.
Richmond Park being the most well known location in Richmond. It’s open everyday for pedestrians 24hrs apart from the deer culling months of November and February when it is open between 7.30 and 8pm. For vehicles the gates open at 7 in the winter and 7.30 in the summer and close at dusk so anytime between 4 and 9 depending on the time of year. Although a very popular park with its 2500 acres it’s easy to find your own part of the park. You might have to share it with the deer though, if you’re lucky! It’s a really fantastic spot for engagement shoots and wedding shoots. For weddings I would advise looking into a photography permit which costs £120. More information can be found on the Richmond council web site.
I love photographing at Richmond Hill and the Terrace Gardens. My favourite view in London is from the viewing point on Richmond Hill overlooking the thames. It’s such a stunning sight. The terrace gardens are a hidden gem, well not exactly hidden but quieter than Richmond park. The trees and foliage make for stunning backdrops for engagement and wedding shoots. The colours change from season to season and there never is a bad time of year to photograph there. The gardens lead all the way down to the river also which is another great photoshoot location. There are some beautiful spots all along the river going towards Twickenham. It’s one of my favourite walks in London. You pass by Marble Hill Park which again is another great photo location.

Parking for weddings in Richmond
Being such a popular borough to be married in as well as being densely populated with residential properties, parking can be an issue at times in Richmond. There is plenty of parking at Paradise Road Multi storey and the NCP car park by Richmond station. There is also a car park at the station itself. These are a little walk from some of the popular wedding locations, but could be an option if you are a guest and are meeting people before the ceremony. Off street pay as you go parking is available in some streets and I’ve highlighted some of these in the map below. A lot of the streets are residents permit only so be careful not to park there. Most of the hotel venues in central Richmond like The Petersham Hotel, Richmond Hill Hotel and Richmond Harbour Hotel all have parking on site. Do you have to pay to park in Richmond park? The answer for that is no, the parking is free at the numerous car parks in the park. They can get full quickly though. There is a car park right next to Pembroke Lodge.
Richmond Wedding Photographer
” I would love to find out more about how the planning is going for your wedding. I can’t wait to get out photographing weddings again after the tough year we all had in 2020. I’m looking forward to sharing more images from the exciting weddings I have coming up. The beard might be gone by then though, I fully embraced the lockdown look and the studio selfie. “
